A stunning open-air cenote surrounded by lush jungle, known for its deep turquoise pool and cliff jumping platforms. Popular with divers exploring the connected cavern system below.

Jardín del Edén, which translates to Garden of Eden, is one of the most spectacular open-air cenotes in the Riviera Maya. Located just 25 kilometers south of Playa del Carmen off Highway 307, this cenote is a favorite among divers and cliff jumpers for its deep turquoise pool, exceptional clarity, and connected underwater cavern system.

The cenote is a large oval pool surrounded by dense jungle vegetation, with rocky ledges at various heights providing natural platforms for cliff jumping. The main jumping point is about 5 meters above the water, high enough for a thrill but low enough for most visitors to attempt. The water below is deep — roughly 15 meters at its deepest point — providing a safe landing zone.

For divers, Jardín del Edén is one of the most accessible cavern diving sites near Playa del Carmen. The cenote connects to an extensive underwater cave system with incredible stalactite formations and light effects. Open water certified divers can explore the cavern zone with a guide, while advanced cave divers access the deeper passages. Visibility frequently exceeds 30 meters.

Snorkeling here is excellent as well. The crystal-clear water reveals fish, turtles, and the rocky formations along the edges. Bring your own gear as there are no rentals available on-site. The clarity is best in the morning before swimmers stir up sediment.

Entry costs 200 MXN (approximately $11 USD) per person. The cenote has basic facilities including a small parking area and changing space, but there are no food vendors or restaurants. Bring your own snacks, water, and anything else you need for the visit.

One important note: Jardín del Edén is closed every Saturday for ecological rest. Plan accordingly. On other days, arrive early in the morning for the best experience — fewer people means clearer water and more peaceful swimming. The cenote is also next to Cenote Cristalino and Cenote Azul, making it easy to visit two or three cenotes in a single trip.
